Our Story

The Halifax Brewery Market Cooperative is a not-for-profit, member-run cooperative that organizes a weekly Saturday market on Lower Water Street in Halifax.

Farmers market operations began on this site in 1983 and a determined group of vendors formed our cooperative in 2010.

Our mandate is to support and promote small-scale, local food producers and artisans, and to be a positive force in the growth and sustainability of our local economy.

The market strives to be a welcoming community space where people can come together to socialize and relax. While supporting and nourishing a sustainable local food system and economy, the market is a place for gathering and building community.
