Durable Dish Program
Our Durable Dish Program helps reduce single-use waste by providing reusable dishes for customers dining at the market. Simply pick up a plate from the Information Booth before ordering your meal, enjoy your food, and return your used dish to the Dish Return Station when you're finished. Every dish is washed, sanitized, and prepared for future market days.

Green Vendor Recognition Program

Waste Diversion
Reducing waste is a market-wide effort. To better understand our waste stream, a waste audit was conducted in partnership with Dalhousie University. The findings have helped inform our waste sorting practices and the development of a vendor alternatives guide.
Our waste stations are monitored each market day to help ensure materials are sorted according to HRM guidelines. We've also created market-specific sorting signage featuring common products sold by our vendors to make it easier for customers to dispose of waste correctly.
