The Halifax Brewery Market Cooperative, a member-run not-for-profit coop, hosts a weekly year-round farmers market every Saturday in the historic Alexander Keith's building hidden along Lower Water Street just off the Halifax Boardwalk.

Our mandate is to support and promote small-scale, local food producers and artisans and to be a positive force in the growth and sustainability of our local economy. We strive to be a welcoming community space for people to come together, supporting and nourishing a sustainable local food system in a relaxed environment. The market is a place for gathering and building community.

How do we book the Community Table?We welcome Community Groups every Saturday at the market! Once you've read through the Community Table Guidelines, complete the one-page application form and submit it to community@halifaxbrewerymarket.com You'll then organize your booking and space needs with the Saturday Market Manager.

Where can I park?There is FREE parking in the Salter Lot from 6am - 3pm supported by Build Nova Scotia. Please do head over to the Information Booth upon arrival to check in with your license plate. You must register weekly. There is also FREE street parking all around the market on Saturdays, with entrances to our space from Salter, Lower Water, Hollis and Bishop Streets. There's also a great updated list on the DHBC website of paid parking lots nearby. How do I know who will be onsite this weekend?We post on our social media early in the morning to show who is onsite this weekend. Most of our vendors are permanent and onsite weekly. We can recommend following your favourite vendors on social media, emailing us during the week or giving the Information Booth a call on Saturdays if you're looking for someone in particular.

Is your space accessible?Our historic building is beautiful, but isn't always accessible. You can find more details on our space on our Accessibility Page or in our Instagram Stories.

What is Market Money? Do all Vendors accept it?Market Money is our own currency! It's available for purchase at the Information Booth and comes in $5 denominations. All vendors accept Market Money at their booths. There is no fee for purchasing Market Money and you will receive change in Canadian Dollars for any purchase. Markey Money never expires.

Does the market still operate in stormy weather?Our market rarely closes for inclement weather. If there is a severe weather warning, we will make an announcement by Thursday evening and will either postpone to Sunday or skip the week. Because weather can vary throughout the province, we encourage you to check in directly with a vendor to see if they are able to attend market during stormy weather. As always, stay safe and stay home if that's what is best for you.

Can I bring my pet to market?Although we love animals, and would love to meet your pet, we cannot permit pets inside the market area and will have to ask you to step out if we spot a furry friend.

Is the market open?The market is open year-round every Saturday from 8am - 1pm except for the Saturday that falls between Christmas and New Years.

How do I pay for items?Each vendor chooses what currencies they accept, though all will accept Market Money. Many vendors now have SQUARE readers, allowing them to accept debit and credit. As supporters of small businesses with narrow profit margins, we always encourage folks to shop with cash, as the processing fees on credit and debit can be debilitating for a small business.

How do I become a vendor?Thanks for your interest in becoming a vendor with the Halifax Brewery Market! To join in the fun you should first read through the Vendor Handbook, spend a day onsite as a customer, and introduce yourself at the Information Booth. The next step is to complete and submit the two page application form found at the back of the handbook in as much detail as possible. More details can be found on the Become a Vendor page.

What are your table fees?Our table fees range depending on your needs (water? electrical? kitchen access?) but start at $46 and go up to $71 a week, inclusive of HST.

Are you accepting applications?Indeed! We accept applications year-round. You can submit an application my regular mail, email, text or in person!

What kind of Vendors are you looking for?Our market focuses on both food and primary producers. That means we're generally looking for folks that harvest, grow and raise their own products. We're always on the search for farmers, ranchers, fisherfolk and foragers. In particular we're currently on the hunt for: - Fisherfolk and fishing cooperatives - Year-round produce farmers - Pantry staples (crackers, chips, preserved fruits & veg, dips, flours)

Can I rent your licensed kitchen?Absolutely! More details can be found on our kitchen rentals page, but the best course of action is to send us an email outlining your plans and requesting a tour of the space.
